Cosette is inspired by the beauty of the roses at The Gardens at Heather Farms and the novel Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. I happened to be reading this novel at the time of my residency. This painting was painted in plein air and capture the morning light on the beautiful roses at The Gardens.
